Domino Printing Sciences, a UK-based coding, marking and labelling equipment manufacturer, has started construction of a new factory in Changshu, China, with an investment of around £19m.

Located in the Changshu Economic & Technological Development, the new factory covers an area of 26,667m² and is designed to support the growth of the company across the Asia Pacific region.

The Domino Printing Technology (Changshu) facility will initially feature lines for ink production, ink jet printer assembly testing and thermal transfer overprinting (TTO) assembly testing.

A series of departments will be set up to conduct research and development, quality control and logistics activities.

Once operational, the plant will produce 14,000 labelling devices and 2,500t of ink annually.

Domino Printing Technology (Chang Shu) general manager Johnny Tan said: “Domino’s development strategy is to strengthen its relationships with its customers, and the regional manufacturing base is a key part of this strategy.
