Novvia Group, a global rigid packaging distributor, has acquired Garrett Hewitt International (GHI), a US-based company that supplies packaging for cosmetics.
GHI supplies both plastic and glass containers, focusing on the beauty and fragrance industries.
Details regarding the cost of the deal have not been made public.
GHI was established in 1964 and operates out of Fishkill, New York. Its product range and clientele reportedly complement Novvia’s consumer packaging operations.
The acquisition supports Novvia’s efforts to enhance its role in the packaging distribution space and follows its buyout of Saxco this January.
Novvia has also introduced a new division focused on distributing consumer goods packaging.
The addition of GHI is intended to further build out that newly formed unit.
Last month, Novvia Group acquired MegaChem, a company located in North Carolina, US, for an undisclosed price.
MegaChem is known for its expertise in rigid packaging, including pails and drums, and serves a diverse array of customers across numerous industries and regions.
Established in 1979 and backed by Kelso & Company, Novvia has expanded over the years and now operates from a 45,000ft² facility in High Point, North Carolina.
This latest acquisition strengthens Novvia’s presence in the Southeastern US and bolsters its position within the industrial sector.
Novvia executive chair Ken Roessler said: “Since acquiring Saxco, we have been focused on identifying complementary consumer businesses and end markets with strong and durable growth profiles, diverse supply bases, and high degrees of fragmentation.
“GHI fits well within this consumer thesis. We look forward to working with Jason and his team to capitalise on these attractive attributes and continue the company’s growth trajectory.”
GHI will continue to operate the business and will also manage the day-to-day operations of the company.
GHI owner Jason Clerke said: “We are thrilled to partner with Novvia to support our continued growth. We look forward to leveraging Novvia’s strong supplier relationships and resources to continue to provide value to our customers.”
