Glass packaging products manufacturer O-I Glass has reported that it retained more than 100,000 tonnes of glass packaging in the circular economy by the end of 2022.

In its 2023 Sustainability Report, the company noted that it recycled this glass through more than 50 closed-loop glass recycling programmes created with global customers.

O-I also said that it achieved access to glass recycling in 96% of the communities where it operates last year.

It also built 25 collection sites through the ‘Glass4Good’ programmes.

These sites generated close to $20,000 in donations to the non-profit United Way.

O-I Glass increased recycled content in its products to 38% on average, with an aim to increase this to a 50% average by 2030.
