Finnish sustainable innovations company Paptic has launched a new sustainable wood-fibre based packaging material, Paptic Tringa.
Paptic Tringa is completely free from paper, non-woven or plastic materials, which the company says sets it in a new materials category. Paptic claims it will offer consumers, brand owners and retailers the ‘optimal choice for sustainable and re-usable packaging solutions.’
According to Paptic, Paptic Tringa has a unique look and feel and supports all conventional printing and converting processes. The sustainable packaging material is also strong, durable and flexible, which allows it to be recycled and re-used several times, ultimately decreasing the use of single-use plastic packaging throughout the value chain.
Paptic CEO and co-founder Tuomas Mustonen said: “We need the forerunners and those who make bold decisions. We should focus on the value which investing in sustainability will create for the brand.”
Paptic Tringa is available in 60, 80 and 110 grammages, and can be delivered in sheets and reels. Paptic predicts that its delivery capacity will reach 25,000 tonnes per annum in 2020.
Single-use plastic has dominated the ‘war on plastics’ debate with many companies, including The Coca-Cola Company and Deliveroo opting to cut single-use plastic packaging from their business models. Earlier this week, an American explorer found plastic waste, at the seafloor of the Pacific Ocean, during a record-breaking victory for the deepest ever ocean dive.
