Indian drinks maker Parle Agro is set to launch its mango juice brand Frooti in glass bottles as part of its venture into the returnable glass bottles (RGB) segement.

With its new packs, Parle will primarily aim at India’s Rs2,000 ($407m) fruit-based drinks sector’s rural market, which grew 60% in 2011.

Currently, Coca-Cola fruit drink brand Maaza is the leader in the fruit-based drinks segment, which is available in tetra packs, PET and glass bottles.

Parle Agro joint managing director Nadia Chauhan said the company plans to increase its footprint in virgin territories and expects to increase its markets shares with the move.
