US-based beverage manufacturer PepsiCo has agreed to host an interactive session at the Active & Intelligent Packaging Industry Association (AIPIA) Congress 2017 next month to seek new packaging ideas and formats for its brands.
The session participants will be allotted specific 5min timeslots to present an outline of their concepts to the company on how it can deploy active and intelligent packaging across its brand portfolio.
The scope of the session will include all PepsiCo brands, including its beverages, Frito Lay snacks, Tropicana juice beverages, Quaker oatmeal and bars, Gatorade sports drinks and others.
The participants can provide the presentation on any one of these products or multiple PepsiCo Brands.
The presentation guidelines include consumer engagement and interaction; active packaging to extend shelf life; interaction with smartphones, Printed Electronics and NFC tagging; as well as increased functionality to increase customer appeal.
AIPIA Congress executive director Eef de Ferrante said: “PepsiCo is pushing the door wide open for active and intelligent packaging developers to come up with exciting ideas on a truly brand-wide scale.
“They are showing great confidence in A&IP, and our association members, in particular, to take these technologies into groundbreaking areas for a major multinational brand, at mass production level in some cases.”
Following the presentation, PepsiCo will sign appropriate agreements with the respective vendors, if it is interested in exploring the proposals further.
The session will be held on 2-3 November at the Beurs van Berlage, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
