PET Jar

Plastic containers designer and manufacturer Petainer has introduced the new petainerJar brand polyethylene terephthalate (PET) jar for the food industry.

The new jar, which is claimed to be cost-effective and sustainable compared to jars made from other materials, features a lightweight construction that allows transportation of more jars using maximum load space on a truck than previous sizes, which produces savings in freight costs and fuel.

Made from recyclable material with barrier technology, the jar can be supplied with short lead times either in a fully blown or in a PET wide mouth preform format.

The preform format of the jars is said to reduce the environmental footprint as many more can be transported in fewer shipments.

The format additionally provides operational benefits as they require less storage space.

Said to be suitable for a range of other food products such as coffee, the new petainerJar is available in sizes ranging from 300ml to 7.6l, with standard neck sizes from 63mm to 120mm.

"The new petainerJar is available in sizes ranging from 300ml to 7.6l."

Petainer Group Commercial Strategy director Annemieke Hartman-Jemmett said the new jars would help food companies to control their cash flow that is being affected due to the long period taken up by production and logistics.

"With petainerJar, whether supplied ready-blown or as a preform, we offer customers far shorter lead times, as well as a highly engineered quality product at a lower cost offering with improved sustainability, and, they are produced in Europe," Hartman-Jemmet said.

The company is set to exhibit its new jar at the forthcoming FIBO 2014 event to be held from 3 to 6 April 2014 in Cologne, Germany.
