Flexible packaging manufacturer ProAmpac has introduced a new line of coatings, Signature Surfaces, to enhance the tactile feel of consumer packaging.

The Signature Surfaces product line features three products, including Paper Touch, Soft Touch and Registered Matte. They are claimed to offer heat, scuff and chemical resistance.

Paper Touch coating is designed to offer the feel of paper with the protection of film, and is suitable for snack and pet food markets.

Soft Touch is designed to serve the premium and luxury product categories offering a soft, velvety feel while Registered Matte gives a matte photo texture to all, or part, of the packaging.

The company is offering the Signature Surfaces line in roll stock for form-fill-seal (FFS) applications, or in various pre-made pouch formats, including Pro-Pouch Stand Up Pouches or Quad-Flex quad seal pouches.

Customers can combine the new coatings with glossy graphics or a clear window to provide a new look to the packaging in a bid to attract consumer attention.

ProAmpac chief commercial officer Adam Grose said: “Our Signature Surfaces line represents developments that have been in the works for several years.

“Their tactile feel and visual aesthetics increase the shelf differentiation for our customers while helping to reinforce brand-positioning strategies.”

“Their tactile feel and visual aesthetics increase the shelf differentiation for our customers while helping to reinforce brand-positioning strategies both on the shelf and in the hands of the end-consumer.

“Whether it’s a paper-like feel for organics or a velvety touch for premium products, we’re working with brand owners to give consumers an unforgettable tactile packaging experience.”

Furthermore, the company is also offering Paper Touch coatings in recyclable films for customers looking for sustainable flexible packaging options.

Earlier this month, ProAmpac introduced an updated range of child-resistant, reclosable, easy-open (CRREO) pouches in an expanded range of sizes.
