US-based plastic recycling company PureCycle Technologies has received the REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) Certificate of Compliance, enabling the company to sell its PureFive resin to customers in the European Union (EU).
The certification confirms that materials produced by PureCycle meet EU regulatory requirements for human health and environmental protection.

Under REACH, any substance used in a product must be registered if annual production exceeds one tonne.
The rules are also in place in Liechtenstein, Norway and Iceland.
PureCycle intends to establish its inaugural European plant at the port of Antwerp in Belgium, with construction to be finished by mid-2028.
Its Ironton dissolution recycling plant in the US state of Ohio, operational since 2023, produces PureFive resin, which has been used in food packaging, automotive components and textiles.

PureCycle European and Asia Pacific operations vice-president Wiebe Schipper stated: “Achieving EU REACH certification will allow us to help expand the reach of our first-of-a-kind dissolution recycling technology.
“We’re seeing demand for PureFive resin in Europe and this certification will allow us to put future orders of our high-quality recycled polypropylene into the hands of these potential customers, allowing them to try our products before our European production starts in 2028.”
In June 2025, PureCycle signed binding agreements to raise $300m in capital to support its global growth strategy.
The company plans to establish one billion pounds of installed capacity by 2030 across the US, Europe, and Asia.
The capital raise involved a collaboration with new and existing investors, including Duquesne Family Office and Wasserstein Debt Opportunities.
In early 2025, PureCycle entered a collaboration with Landbell Group to expand polypropylene (PP) plastic recycling in Europe.
The collaboration aimed to focus on upcycling PP waste into recycled PP for applications across the continent.
