Belgium-based RPC Cobelplast plans to invest in the automation of two processes including a new wrapping and palletising system for finished rolls of sheet along with an automatic sack emptying machine.

The company said it will invest €1.1m and the new system has the ability to read barcodes, enabling it to wrap reels and stack pallets.

The new system serves eight production lines in three separate halls. It shrink wraps each roll in foil, which is then placed onto a pallet, while the full pallets are subsequently strapped and coded.

The shrink wrap process also reduces energy consumption as well as the amount of outer packaging in terms of weight.

RPC said the new sack emptying machine can handle up to 1,300 sacks an hour, and can pick up and empty an entire pallet layer in a single operation, eliminating the need for manual handling.
