Austrian packaging solutions provider Schur Flexibles (Schur) has acquired Cats-Hänsel and Nimax from Clondalkin Group (Clondalkin) for an undisclosed price.

The acquisition includes Cats-Hänsel’s Cats Flexibles Packaging (Cats) site in Rotterdam, Hänsel Flexible Packaging facility in Freital, Germany, and Nimax’s facility in Elst, the Netherlands.

The completion of the transaction is subject to the approval from the relevant competition authorities.

“We are continuing our expansion strategy and see alongside organic growth further opportunities for acquisitions.”

Cats produces waxed paper and barrier packaging, including premium-quality flexo and gravure printing technologies, while Hänsel is known for twist-and-fold wraps for confectionery manufacturers.

Nimax develops tea tags, envelopes and inlay sheets for tobacco packaging.

The three facilities currently have 135 employees and are reported to have generated sales volume exceeding €30m last year.
