SK Chemicals, a prominent player in the copolyester market, recently participated in the 2024 China Beauty Expo, which took place from 22 to 24 May at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.

The company showcased its innovative Circular Recycle materials, aiming to impact the Chinese cosmetics packaging sector significantly.

Circular Recycle technology in focus

The China Beauty Expo, known as Asia’s largest beauty exhibition, features a vast array of global cosmetic brands, manufacturers, and distributors. This year, it saw participation from over 3,200 companies from more than 40 countries.

SK chemicals stood out by presenting its range of sustainable plastic materials, which are either made from recycled content or can be recycled into polyethylene terephthalate (PET) after use.

Their products, including the high-performance Circular Recycle copolyester ECOTRIA CR and ECOTRIA CLARO, which is designed for easy recycling into PET, drew significant attention.

Advancing sustainability in cosmetics packaging

The company’s participation highlighted its commitment to sustainable packaging solutions within the cosmetics industry, which aligns with the broader market trend towards environmental responsibility.

SK chemicals’ display included a session dedicated to introducing materials optimised for eco-friendly cosmetic containers to representatives from global cosmetic brands.

Future outlook and market growth

The move by SK chemicals to showcase its products at the expo aligns with industry growth expectations.

The Chinese cosmetics market is forecasted to expand at an annual rate of more than 5% until 2025, reflecting a robust potential for companies such as SK chemicals to increase their market presence with sustainable solutions.

The company’s ongoing efforts to collaborate with brand owners around the world were also emphasised, indicating a strategic focus on sustainability in the cosmetics industry.
