Swedish dairy products manufacturer Skånemejerier has chosen RPC Superfos’s packaging for its Allerum mature cheese portfolio.
The product is a wedge-shaped pack with oxygen-barrier label created by RPC Group’s division RPC Superfos, which reportedly eliminates the need for a serving plate and for finger contact.
Skånemejerier Allerum & Cheese brand manager Jannica Andersson said: “Convenience is a significant trend and, generally speaking, cheese packaging has not really changed since the 1950s.
“We wanted to step up and offer consumers a striking new solution for our Allerum series of mature cheese.
“With the bespoke pack from RPC Superfos, we are now rejuvenating the image of cheese packaging and have a container that makes our cheese stand out from the crowd.”
The new injection moulded polypropylene pack features an inner plastic seal and an oxygen barrier label.

By GlobalDataConsumers can see the yellow colour of the cheese thanks to a partially see-through pack.
In order to open the pack, consumers need to remove the base and the plastic seal, put the base back on, place the container upside down and remove the top cover before serving the cheese on its triangular plate base.
The fully recyclable solution also allows consumers to re-seal and store the cheese by replacing the top cover.
Prior to its launch, the packaging was put through a series of qualitative and quantitative tests with consumers.
