Renewable packaging solutions provider Stora Enso has combined its containerboard business in the Packaging Solutions division with the Consumer Board division.

The merger will create a new Packaging Materials division.

The remaining business in Packaging Solutions and the company’s newly created fibre unit will form a focused Packaging Solutions division.

The transition will become effective starting from 1 January 2020.

The company has reported 2018 sales for Packaging Solutions to be approximately €700m based on the new structure.

As a part of the merger, the company has appointed Hannu Kasurinen as EVP, head of Consumer Board and member of the Group Leadership Team, with immediate effect.

He will be EVP and head of Packaging Materials as of 1 January 2020.
