Sun Chemical, a unit of DIC group, has completed the acquisition of Flint Group’s European publication gravure ink business for an undisclosed sum.

As part of the deal, all products related to Flint Group’s European publication gravure business have been transferred to Sun Chemical.

Sun Chemical chief marketing officer and board member Felipe Mellado said: “We are delighted to confirm the acquisition of Flint Group’s publication gravure ink business, which reaffirms our commitment to this sector, and enables us to further strengthen and enhance the performance of our own publication gravure plants.

“Now that the acquisition is complete, we are working with Flint Group to deliver a smooth and seamless transition of operations, so that customers remain fully supported with our high levels of quality and customer service.”

At the time of signing the acquisition deal, Flint Group said that its publication gravure customers outside of Europe would remain unaffected by the deal.

Sun Chemical, which currently employs more than 20,000 people, is involved in the production of printing inks, coatings and supplies, pigments, polymers, liquid and solid compounds, and application materials.

In February, the company completed the acquisition of Canada-based Colmar Inks’ flexo inks business.

Colmar is involved in the production and sale of liquid inks, coatings, and flexo inks for the corrugated box market across Canada.
