Toray Plastics (America) has unveiled its new lab analysis services for packaging and industrial films.

The offerings will include comprehensive analytic testing of films, laminations, and finished printed structures to all consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies and converters.

The company expects that its knowledge of packaging and industrial film manufacturing, along with the latest lab equipment, will enable customers to devise their strategic planning decisions and develop new product platforms.

Toray Plastics' America senior analytic chemist Bridget Hanafin said: “CPGs and converters have a vested interest in knowing before they go when it comes to driving their film business.

Toray Plastics’ new services will include microscopy; materials and mechanical characterisations; rheology; physical, optical, and appearance testing; surface properties; permeation; environment challenges; film processing; and structure analysis.

The company's provides reverse engineering analysis of orientated polypropylene (OPP) packaging structures. This involves a combination of various tests such as seal testing, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning caliometry (DSC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) for inorganic loading identification.

Toray Plastics manufactures polyester, polypropylene, and bio-based and metallised films for flexible and rigid packaging.
