US-based ProAmpac has purchased flexible packaging firm Trinity Packaging for an undisclosed sum.

With the completion of the deal, the combined entity will operate 22 manufacturing sites, employ 3,000 people, and cater to more than 5,000 customers in 90 countries worldwide.

Trinity Packaging will continue to run under its current name and has become a separate division within ProAmpac.

In addition, former president of Trinity, John Freund, will work with the combined company as a member of the ProAmpac board of directors.

Specialised in large format packaging, Trinity currently serves the lawn and garden, pet care, healthcare as well as food and various specialty industrial markets.

In October 2016, ProAmpac, owned by Pritzker Group Private Capital and other co-investors, had acquired Vitex Packaging Group.

With a range of press, plate-making, slitting, and pouching capabilities, Vitex is specialised in the printing and converting of paper and laminates.

The company also serves the medical, pharmaceutical, health and beauty, and food and beverage markets in North America and aboard.
