The latest solution comprises up to 85% recycled PET plastic.

Food packaging provider Faerch has launched its latest hot beverage lid made from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) plastic.

This product is claimed to have been designed to offer a circular solution specifically for the drinks industry.

The rPET lids are expected to assist businesses in enhancing their brand reputation while responding to changing consumer demands.

Faerch said that its hot beverage lid is made from up to 85% rPET plastic and is entirely recyclable back into food-grade packaging.

The lid features a secure fit and leak resistance, making it ideal for various consumer situations.

The rollout of these rPET hot beverage lids is expected to aid in lowering carbon emissions and bolstering sustainability credentials.

This feature is expected to help both coffee shops and beverage companies seeking to set themselves apart in a crowded market.

As consumer expectations for sustainable initiatives increase, Faerch’s lid provides a means for businesses to showcase their dedication to environmental stewardship, the company said.

Faerch group product management director Michelle Lykke Barbesgaard said: “This launch is more than just a lid - it’s a step toward reshaping the industry.

“At Faerch, we believe true innovation means creating solutions that serve both people and the planet. Our recycled PET hot drinking lid empowers businesses to lead with purpose, proving that convenience and sustainability can, and must, go hand in hand.”

Last December, Faerch signed a ten-year sustainability-linked loan agreement with the Nordic Investment Bank.
