Graphic Packaging Holding Company has introduced PaceSetter Ridgeline, foraying into the uncoated recycled paperboard (URB) segment.

The new URB product is designed for use in cores, edge protectors, folding cartons, laminations and tubes, as well as other speciality applications.

The company noted that this expands its ability to meet demand across a wider range of paperboard and consumer packaging customers.

PaceSetter Ridgeline is manufactured from 100% recycled fibre and contains at least 45% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content.

The new offering is manufactured at Graphic Packaging’s paperboard mill in Waco, Texas, US.

According to the company, the facility allows efficient switching between coated and uncoated recycled paperboard production, providing flexibility to adapt rapidly to changing customer requirements.

Its technology is also intended to deliver sheet squareness, colour consistency, and converting performance for high-volume applications.

Graphic Packaging president and CEO Robbert Rietbroek, who took on the position in January, said: "PaceSetter Ridgeline extends our recycled paperboard platform to new markets and customers, further diversifying our portfolio to include industrial applications.

"This new uncoated grade gives customers a fit-for-purpose recycled paperboard option backed by the scale, reliability and manufacturing capability they expect from Graphic Packaging.”

In June, Graphic Packaging named Larry Venturelli as chair of its board. He succeeded Philip Martens, who retired after working as a director since November 2013.
