Flexible packaging company ProAmpac has partnered with ScottsMiracle-Gro to transform the garden care products packaging brand, O.M. Scott & Sons, into a recyclable solution.

The new packaging features ProAmpac’s PRO-EVO Recyclable SOS Bags, which are designed to replace traditional plastic films with fibre-based solutions. This offers consumers a kerbside-recyclable option that doesn't compromise on product protection.

Traditionally, garden care products such as natural grass seed, clover seed, and grass food products have been packaged in multilayer plastic films that are not easily recyclable.

The new fibre-based packaging from ProAmpac for the O.M. Scott & Sons brand represents a shift in the sector, providing a sustainable alternative that aligns with consumer demand for environmentally friendly products.

ScottsMiracle-Gro packaging engineer Ray Severa said: “The transition to PRO-EVO Recyclable Bags has been smooth and successful.

“These bags run efficiently in our production process, deliver the durability we need, and align with our focus on environmentally responsible packaging.”

ProAmpac global product development and innovation senior vice-president Hesam Tabatabaei said: “ScottsMiracle-Gro sought a packaging solution that protects the O.M. Scott & Sons products while enhancing sustainability for consumers.

“Our kerbside-recyclable PRO-EVO SOS Bags, built with enhanced moisture protection and durability, deliver branding impact required for lawn care products.”

Last month, ProAmpac expanded its dairy packaging offerings with advanced butter wrap solutions.
