Securikett unveils heat-free sealing label

The company said that the label can be fitted automatically with labelling or dispensing equipment.

Securikett has introduced a labelling system intended to take the place of conventional heat sealing in packaging.

The format brings together several functions within one label.

These include structured adhesive layers, integrated VOID technology, silicone coatings applied with precision and tailored die-cutting.

According to Securikett, these elements work together to create a packaging format that combines product protection, practical use as well as compliance requirements within a single design.

The label includes a tamper-evident feature that shows whether a pack has been opened or interfered with through an integrated VOID effect.

It can also incorporate practical components such as air holes or display windows.

Securikett said the main change in the process is the way the pack is closed. Instead of using a welded lid, the tray is sealed by the label itself.

The company added that the label can be fitted automatically with labelling or dispensing equipment, removing the need for heat in the sealing process.

Securikett research and development head Vanessa Mitterer-Kling said: “We have combined multiple technologies so that they work together within a single label. This creates a packaging solution that is not only tamper-evident but can also be efficiently integrated into existing production processes.

“While tamper-evident security solutions have been used for years, for example in cash transport pouches, this development now introduces comparable security mechanisms for tray and cup packaging for the first time.”
