Siegwerk, a supplier of printing inks and coatings for packaging and labels, has secured the EcoVadis gold medal with an overall score of 78 out of 100.

The score places the Germany-based company in the 96th percentile and among the top 5% of firms evaluated by EcoVadis worldwide.

The result signifies consistent year‑on‑year improvements since it began group‑level assessments in 2022 and demonstrates progress under its HorizonNOW sustainability agenda.

The gold rating also fulfils the company’s corporate objective of attaining this level of recognition by 2025.

Siegwerk recorded strong performance across all four assessment categories.

The company scored 86 out of 100 in the environment category, due to third‑party‑assured corporate and product carbon footprints, global ISO certifications as well as site‑level actions on pollution and waste management.

In sustainable procurement, Siegwerk scored 68 out of 100, supported by a new supplier code of conduct, supplier risk assessments and engagement programmes encapsulated in its SustainUP procurement initiative.

Under labour and human rights, it achieved 80 out of 100, reflecting a new human and labour rights policy, a company‑wide living wage analysis and an improved grievance mechanism.

The company scored 66 out of 100 in the ethics category, which Siegwerk states was driven by continued compliance along with transparent reporting practices.

EcoVadis also outlined Siegwerk’s ISO 14001 site certifications and its role as a carbon disclosure project respondent.

Siegwerk head of global sustainability and circular economy Alina Marm stated: “EcoVadis Gold underlines that consistency and dedication to a sustainable business transformation pays off - not only when it comes to reducing our footprint but also in building stronger foundations across our supply chain, labour practices and ethical standards. This prestigious recognition energises us to go even further.”

In August 2025, Siegwerk agreed to acquire Allinova, a Dutch speciality chemicals company with expertise in formulating water‑based dispersions, wax emulsions and adhesives.

The acquisition strengthens Siegwerk's packaging coating portfolio and broadens its customer reach beyond converters to paper mills and film manufacturers.
