Tosca launches second annual 2023 ESG report

The report revealed that Tosca received Platinum certification from Ecovadis.

Global reusable plastic packaging manufacturer Tosca has released its second annual 2023 environmental, social, and governance (ESG) report.

In the report titled 'All Together Better, Innovation through Partnership', the company reported a 30% reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions intensity by operating hours.

The company said that all its new products made for the UK market already have more than 30% recycled food-grade plastic material content., which was made possible through its growing research and development programme.

During the year, certification platform Ecovadis upgraded Tosca’s sustainability rating from Gold to Platinum.

This recognition is only given to the top 1% of companies in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

The company has been leveraging digital processes to track its products' movements and thereby reduce waste and losses.

According to Tosca, all of its largest assets are now equipped with digital tracking capabilities.

By 2030, the company aims to implement automated processes in 100% of its locations and achieve a 42% reduction in scope 1 and 2 absolute emissions with 2021 as the baseline.

Tosca CEO Eric Frank said: "Going forward, our focus remains on continuous improvement and innovation. Together with our customers, we can make a significant difference in easing the burden on our planet by eliminating wasted miles, food, space, and labour from the supply chain.

"Tosca and its customers have a shared vision of crafting a world that truly embodies the essence of 'All together better.'"

In May this year, Tosca launched a new life cycle analysis tool to help companies transporting bulk liquids reduce their environmental footprint by selecting sustainable liquid intermediate bulk containers.

In 2022, flexible packaging was the most used pack material in the global household product packaging industry

The packaging volume in the global household products industry was 199 billion units in 2022, and is expected to grow at a CAGR of >3% by 2027, per GlobalData. Flexible packaging was the most used pack material in 2022 accounting for a share of 68.6%, followed by rigid plastics. Flexible packaging offers ease of use and storage, allowing customers to access and store household and pet care products conveniently. Its lightweight nature reduces transportation costs and increases efficiency throughout the supply chain.
