Toshiba America Business Solutions has introduced the BX820T, an industrial label printer intended for use in warehouses, distribution centres, horticulture and manufacturing.

The device is built for demanding labelling work and is designed to provide daily “reliability and consistency”, while keeping total ownership costs low, noted the company.

According to Toshiba, the printer supports media widths of up to eight inches for standard and specialist labels. It can also print on vellum, matt and glossy paper, along with synthetic and polyester film materials.

The company described the unit as “metal-reinforced” and said it can produce labels for large pallets, cartons and drums.

It is also intended for product identification and compliance purposes, including labelling linked to the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency and other local and regional rules.

The BX820T is equipped with a dual-core processor that runs both real-time and Linux operating systems, forming part of Toshiba’s A-BRID ecosystem.

A-BRID platform combines multifunction printer technology with hardware to support print speeds of up to six inches per second and a range of IT-based applications.

The company also said integration and remote oversight are supported through Toshiba’s Elevate Sky MFPConnect and SOTI Connect, which provide 24/7 IoT fleet monitoring, firmware updates, counters and log creation.

It is designed for 2D barcodes, allowing organisations to place more sales and marketing information on labels and support quicker scanning.

Toshiba America Business Solutions marketing and strategic business development vice-president Bill Melo said: "Toshiba's new barcode printer provides warehouse, distribution centre, horticulture and manufacturing professionals with a versatile product for producing larger labels and thicker tags on a diverse array of media.

"By easily integrating within existing fleets as well as supporting the upcoming GS1 US initiative, our printer presents industrial professionals with an ideal solution today and in the future."
