Plastipak Packaging, a provider of sustainable packaging and recycling solutions, is expanding its manufacturing facility in Rapides Parish, Pineville, Louisiana, US.
The expansion will entail a $53.8m investment and is supported by Louisiana Economic Development (LED), the state agency focused on promoting investment, job creation, and economic growth.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of the fourth quarter of 2026. It will create 15 new direct jobs while retaining 340 existing positions.
Additionally, LED estimates that the project will generate 25 indirect jobs, bringing the total potential new jobs in the Central Region to 40.
Plastipak Packaging Pineville manufacturing facility expansion details
Plastipak Packaging’s Pineville manufacturing facility expansion will add 200,000ft² of space to the site, allowing for the installation of up to five additional production lines and increasing warehouse capacity for storing both raw materials and finished products.
The new production lines will feature conveyor and compression systems, moulds, as well as printing and labelling systems.
Upgrades to the existing lines are also planned, which will enhance the use of recycled plastic and boost operational efficiency.

Incentives for facility expansion
The State of Louisiana is supporting Plastipak’s expansion project with several state incentives, including access to LED FastStart for workforce development and eligibility for the state’s Retention and Modernization Program.
LED FastStart provides support to qualifying new or expanding companies in recruiting, screening, and training employees.
Plastipak is also expected to take advantage of Louisiana’s Industrial Tax Exemption and Quality Jobs programmes.
The Industrial Tax Exemption offers a temporary reduction in property taxes for approved manufacturing investments, while the Quality Jobs programme provides cash rebates to eligible employers that create qualifying positions and contribute to economic growth.
Plastipak Packaging Pineville plant history
Plastipak established its presence in Louisiana with the construction of the Pineville facility in 2003 and has expanded the site multiple times since then.
In July 2015, the company announced $9m in capital investment to boost production capacity at the Pineville manufacturing facility, which included adding three production lines for PET products.
LED began collaborating with Plastipak on these expansion plans in December 2014, offering an incentive package that featured the services of LED FastStart®, the state’s workforce development programme.
In June 2017, Plastipak announced an additional $15m in capital investment to further expand production capacity at the Pineville facility. This investment aimed to install up to seven more production lines to enhance the site’s capabilities.
