Market data from China’s packaging industry
In 2016, there was a surge in China for packaging machinery, which witnessed a 7.5% annual rise to reach ¥40bn. Throughout the 2016 fiscal year, the largest product segment continued to be filling and form / fill / seal equipment.
The rise in personal income across China has resulted in a spike in consumption of packaged food and drinks, benefiting suppliers of such items. Demand for packaging machinery is expected to continue to increase for the foreseeable future thanks to the pharmaceutical industry’s expansion and improvements in medical technology.
In 2016, demand for labelling and coding equipment witnessed the largest gains for any type of packaging machinery with growth of 8.2% per annum.
Further gains in this segment are expected due to stricter regulations in China for labelling on food and drink products, particularly relating to traceability.
