Coveris has secured RecyClass Recycled Plastics Traceability Certification at Level 2 for three of its packaging sites.
The newly certified facilities are in Firminy and Montfaucon in France, as well as Louth in the UK.
These sites supply primary, secondary and tertiary packaging to industries such as beverages, food, home and personal care, pet food and transit.
RecyClass Recycled Plastics Traceability Certification is intended to verify systems that record and track recycled plastics throughout the production process. It covers the material journey from verified waste origin to the finished product.
The certification offers independent confirmation that recycled plastics are responsibly sourced, tracked through the supply chain and used in clearly stated proportions.
The company said all three sites met the requirements of the RecyClass audit process. They also demonstrated compliance with EN 15343 and ISO 22095 standards.
The certification is issued by RecyClass, a European cross-industry initiative focused on standards for plastics recyclability and recycled content.
Coveris chief operating officer Nikolaus Wolfram said: “With four of our sites now holding RecyClass certifications, we are demonstrating that our use of recycled material supports quality, traceability and accountability across our supply chain.
“These achievements reinforce our position as an industry leader in high-performance flexible packaging with recycled content and support our ambition to help close the loop in plastic packaging, aligned with our No Waste sustainability strategy.”
Coveris said the latest certifications also support its compliance with the UK Plastic Packaging Tax and the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.
In a separate development, Coveris said its site in Winsford, UK, has completed its second-year audits in 2026. The site had achieved Level 2 certification for both RecyClass Recycling Process and RecyClass Recycled Plastics Traceability last year.
The facility continued to meet the audit criteria, including all mandatory and optional requirements, the company added.
Last month, Coveris agreed to take over the business and assets of GEFO Folienbetrieb, a cast polypropylene (CPP) film manufacturer in Gera, Germany.
The transaction gave Coveris additional CPP production capacity and extends its presence in speciality applications.
In April, Coveris invested €1.8m (then $2.1m) in two manufacturing sites in Poland as it increases production capacity in Central and Eastern Europe.
The investment covered new equipment and technology intended to raise output, enhance production speed and improve functionality in packaging for food, pet food and personal care segments.
