Heidelberger will contribute expertise in industrial printing, workflow integration, automation, and quality-focused production.
The Pfenning group will provide knowledge of pharmaceutical packaging, serialisation, aggregation, track-and-trace, and logistics processes that comply with GDP and GMP requirements.
The work will focus on connecting printing and packaging systems with data-based logistics processes.
Pfenning group management board spokesman Rana Matthias Nag said: “The partnership with Heidelberg strengthens our ability to offer integrated packaging and logistics solutions to our existing customers in the pharmaceutical industry. By closely integrating packaging, data management, and logistics, we create greater transparency, compliance, and operational efficiency throughout the entire value chain.”
The agreement extends Heidelberger’s work on integrating packaging operations beyond printing.
The company has previously announced partnerships with Pack-Smart and Metsä Board.
The collaboration with the Pfenning group adds downstream pharmaceutical packaging and logistics activities to this work.
Heidelberger CEO Jürgen Otto said: “With the pfenning group, we are gaining a competent partner to extend this end-to-end approach to meet the high demands of the pharmaceutical industry.
“This collaboration is thus another milestone in our strategy to build a complete ecosystem for production and logistics together with strong partners and to establish ourselves as the industry’s system integrator.”
