United Caps has introduced an alternative closure sourcing route for carton packaging, allowing packaging buyers to consider the cap separately from the existing complex and filling-line equipment.

The company’s carton packaging closures are designed for existing tethered and non-tethered lines, without line modification or changes to machine settings.

The current range includes the 23 H-PAK.

United Caps plans to add 27 H-PAK (Alu & Alu-Free complexes) at the end of 2027, following completed testing and validation.

In its tethered configuration, the 23 H-PAK remains in an open, locked position away from the pouring area.

This keeps the pouring area clear during use.

The planned 27 H-PAK (Alu & Alu-Free complexes) will provide another closure option for carton packaging specifications.

According to the company, the closures may be made using mass-balanced biobased resin or recycled material.

This is relevant as packaging teams assess material choices, recyclability, and supply-chain resilience in response to the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

The company identifies dairy, juice, stocks, soups, and selected non-liquid products as potential applications for 23 H-PAK and 27 H-PAK (Alu & Alu-Free complexes).

United Caps chief growth officer Alan Quéméneur said: “A closure is one component of the carton pack. Buyers should be able to evaluate and source it according to the same technical and commercial criteria as any other component, without changing the rest of the line. We are here to give buyers that choice.”

The Luxembourg-headquartered company has manufacturing sites in Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Spain, and the UK.

It employs around 740 people and recorded turnover of €181m ($201.7m) at the end of last year. The business has produced more than ten billion closures.
