Sustainable packaging company DS Smith and biodegradable polymer solution provider Aquapak have partnered to develop fibre-based packaging solutions.
Under this partnership, the solutions will be targeted to replace or reduce hard to recycle plastic packaging.

The partnership has completed pilot trials to test performance and recyclability of the biodegradable alternatives.
The team will now focus on developing solution that will see the use of Aquapak, a biodegradable and water-soluble polymer, Hydropol, in place of traditional plastic films.

This exclusive partnership is expected to enhance DS Smith long-term sustainability goals including plans to produce 100% reusable or recyclable packaging by 2025.

Recently, DS Smith manufactured a 100% recyclable Greencoat cooler to replace the plastic foam coolers.
