Finland-based pulp and paper producer Stora Enso has introduced an upgraded version of its solid bleached sulphate (SBS) category board, Ensocoat.

Launched at the ongoing Interpack 2017 event, the new board is designed to offer improved whiteness to help meet the demands of luxury brands and the graphical industry.

Luxury packaging involves finishing treatments, such as embossing, foil stamping and metallisation, which require substrates to have good smoothness, whiteness and folding properties.

Developed based on customer feedback, Ensocoat has been made from renewable virgin fibre using a bioenergy-powered, environmentally sustainable manufacturing process.

Ensocoat is suitable for use in the packaging of several consumer products, including cosmetics, perfumes, champagne, spirits and chocolate.

The board can also be used in high-end graphical applications, such as stationery, covers, cards and calendars.
