RPG Group subsidiary RPC Bebo has developed a new coffee capsule material, B2nature, which can be industrially composted and used in coffee machines.
Offering long-term protection, the newly developed material is expected to meet the increasing demand for capsules with sustainable packaging solutions.

B2nature features a multilayer sheet incorporating an oxygen barrier to increase shelf-life and maintain the quality of coffee in the capsule.
RPC Bebo noted that after 12 weeks of industrial composting, only a minimal amount of B2nature remained, certifying the capsule’s sustainability under European and US norms.
RPC Bebo thermoformed barrier packaging business unit manager Matthias Michaelis said: “B2nature means consumers can benefit from the convenience of small portion packs by providing a sustainable means of disposing of them.
“Equally important, the material also offers the high level of protection that means the freshness, aroma and quality of the coffee are not compromised."

The 250ml pots were produced at RPC Bebo’s facility in Deventer, the Netherlands.
