Sway, a seaweed packaging development company, has expanded its compostable seaweed-based packaging solutions with the launch of TPSea Resin and TPSea Flex Film.

The new products are part of the company’s Thermoplastic Seaweed (TPSea) Collection.

TPSea is a new category of home-compostable biopolymer resin that is fully derived from renewable sources.

The product is the result of the Sway team’s years of development.

The company believes that its proprietary biobased resin can solve the problem of plastics and help create a positive environmental impact.

TPSea Flex Film, which is made from TPSea, is a seaweed-based packaging solution positioned to replace conventional plastic packaging.

Claimed to be the first of its kind, this flexible film is produced through globally scaled manufacturing processes and meets the technical performance demands of brands while also delivering ecological and societal benefits.

Sway says its TPSea Flex Film is strong, adaptable, and suitable for use in a wide range of packaging applications across multiple industries, including fashion, beauty, food, and more.

The company’s evolving product portfolio with TPSea Flex encompasses thin-film packaging applications such as polybags, retail bags, and food wrappers, which account for approximately 30% of all single-use plastic packaging.

Last month, Sway partnered with EcoEnclose Unite to create and introduce a retail box that incorporates Sway’s seaweed-based flexible films.
