This week, ten containers started the journey from Newtec in Odense to Techiman in Ghana- over 5,000km away. In the cargo, three Newtec weighing machines were neatly packed with our partner C-Pack’s net packing machines and our cooperation partner Ekko’s infeed and conveying belts. Combined the components comprise a complete automatic weighing and packing line from infeed to a high-end product. All machines are designed to work together, in terms of product handling, signalling, data sharing, data collection and user interfaces. “Consistent configuration of the machines saves both time and money, eliminating the need for extra operators and allows for a more reliable machine operation”, explains Maria Birch Sterregård, Newtec Marketing and Communications Lead.

The owner of the pack house ordered the equipment to sell portion-packed onions and garlic in nets to supermarket chains instead of selling them in loose weight to the local markets.

“Many of our customers request a specific solution in terms of e.g. portion size, packaging and capacity. It is our job to make it easy for them to choose the right solution. So, in close cooperation we guide them through all the important aspects they need to consider before investing in our machines. To improve their competitiveness, we help them gain a quick payback on the investment, whether that’s on speed and efficiency or whether that’s on giveaway of the product”, Maria Birch Sterregård elaborates.

The request from Ghana was a complete automatic solution and the high-speed Newtec weighing machines will ensure labour savings and accurate portion weighing of the onions and garlic with a giveaway of less than 0.2%.

“When investing in a company so far away, it is really a trust relationship you are entering, and we will go the extra mile to meet or exceed their expectations. We are very excited about this project and look forward to our future cooperation”, Maria Birch Sterregård concludes.
