Green Bay Packaging is a privately owned, diversified manufacturer of a wide range of paperboard packaging materials with its head office located in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It was founded by George F. Kress in 1933 and after considerable expansion over the years now employs over 3,000 people, operating in 15 states.

The company also manufactures a wide selection of pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) labelstock materials with two coating facilities and five slitting facilities strategically located throughout the country. Recently, the company decided to increase its slitting capacity with a 2,100mm (82in) wide Atlas OCS-2 centre-surface slitter rewinder which is due for installation at its Green Bay facility towards the end of this year.

Atlas Converting Equipment, located in Bedford (UK), is the world’s leading supplier of slitting and rewinding solutions for the global labelstock industry and has installed more 2m-wide slitter rewinders for all types of labelstock than any other manufacturer.

"We were particularly impressed with the level of service and attention to detail that Atlas afforded us during our decision making process," explained Paul Hasemeyer, senior vice president at Green Bay Packaging. "We knew their track record was good in the labelstock business and they certainly came up with the best and most cost-effective solution to meet our current requirements. We look forward to working with Atlas in the future and the start-up of our first Atlas slitter later this year," he confirmed.

Since 1984, Green Bay Packaging has grown into one of the largest pressure-sensitive roll label suppliers in the US with coating facilities and slitting operations throughout the country and also in Mexico. Its range includes numerous types of coated papers, films, foils, direct thermal, thermal transfer, laser/inkjet and digital technologies. The company’s advanced manufacturing capabilities, coupled with complete in-house testing, ensures superior production of materials to meet the requirements of today’s complex roll label markets.
