At Oxipack, airtight packaging has long been seen as more than just a technical milestone, it is a commitment to safety, quality, and trust. That is why we were proud to participate in ASTM’s 2025 Committee Week in Atlanta, where global leaders in packaging came together to shape the standards that underpin our industry.

This year, our focus was Committee F02 on Primary Barrier Packaging. It’s a space where science meets application- where engineers, researchers, and quality specialists collaborate to refine the benchmarks that define packaging integrity. For Oxipack, whose core mission is to eliminate leaks and reduce waste, this committee’s work is deeply aligned with our values.

The agenda was both technical and forward-looking.

Discussions centred on the review of existing standards such as F2096 and F3004, and the introduction of a new work item currently under development. These standards may seem like fine print to some, but for us and for our customers, they’re the foundation of reliability. They ensure that packaging performs under pressure, protects what matters, and supports a more sustainable supply chain.

But Committee Week isn’t just about documents and data. It’s about people.

Between sessions, we connected with peers from across industries, sharing insights, challenges, and a few laughs. One evening, a group of F02 members gathered at a local Irish pub, where stories flowed as freely as the Guinness. For some, it was even their first taste of a ‘baby Guinness’- a small but mighty shot that quickly became a conversation starter. These informal moments reminded us that behind every standard is a network of passionate professionals committed to doing things better.

That spirit of collaboration is something we carry into every aspect of our work at Oxipack.

Whether we’re developing non-destructive leak detection systems for vacuum packaging or advising manufacturers on how to reduce product loss, we approach every challenge with the same mindset: listen, learn, and lead with purpose.

Our involvement in ASTM goes beyond meeting standards, it is about building relationships and staying engaged with the industry. And by contributing to the evolution of global standards, we ensure that our solutions remain relevant, rigorous, and rooted in real-world needs. It also allows us to advocate for smarter, more sustainable practices that reduce waste, extend shelf life, and support circularity across the packaging lifecycle.

Take, for example, our commitment to non-destructive testing. Traditional leak detection methods often involve damaging the product or packaging, leading to unnecessary waste. Our technology flips that model- offering fast, accurate, and fully non-invasive testing that protects both product and planet. It’s a small shift with a big impact, and it’s exactly the kind of innovation that standards bodies like ASTM help to validate and scale.

We also see our role as a bridge between sectors. Packaging doesn’t exist in a vacuum (pun intended)—it intersects with food safety, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and sustainability. Committee Week reinforced just how important it is to bring diverse perspectives to the table. The more voices we include, the more resilient and inclusive our standards become.

At Oxipack, we’re proud to be one of those voices. We bring a European perspective, a deep technical understanding, and a relentless focus on quality. But more than that, we bring a belief that packaging can- and should- be a force for good. That belief drives our innovation, shapes our partnerships, and inspires our team every day.

As we look ahead, we’re excited about what’s next. The packaging industry is evolving rapidly, with new materials, regulations, and consumer expectations reshaping the landscape. By staying engaged with ASTM and other global forums, we ensure that our solutions don’t just meet today’s standards, they help define tomorrow’s.

At the end of the day, standards aren’t just about compliance. They’re about confidence, and seal integrity, knowing that every product is protected, and ensuring that customers can trust what’s inside.

It’s a promise we’re proud to keep.
