Asia-Pacific witnessed a 2.7% rise in IT hiring activity in the packaging industry in June 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

June 2021 has seen an decrease of 4.94% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.87% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2021, registering an increase of 0.59% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 44.96% in June 2021, an 18.83% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 23.38% in June 2021, marking a 4.41% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 15.83% in June 2021, a 13.73% drop from May 2021.

Computer and Information Research Scientists registered a share of 7.19% in June 2021, a 28.57% decline over the previous month.

Top five packaging companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in June 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 27.54% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s packaging industry during June 2021 over previous month.

Carrier Global posted 32 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a decline of 48.39% over the previous month, followed by Signify with 22 jobs and a 42.11% drop. Unilever with 17 IT jobs and British American Tobacco with 15 jobs, recorded an 88.89% growth and a 28.57% drop, respectively, while Avery Dennison recorded a 75% an increase with 14 job postings during June 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s packaging industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s packaging industry IT hiring activity with a 38.85% share in June 2021, a 4.85% rise over May 2021. China featured next with a 20.86% share, down 45.79% over the previous month. Australia recorded a 7.91% share, a flat growth compared with May 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 60.79%, down by 37.87% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 26.98% share, a growth of 22.95% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 10.79% share, up 42.86% over May 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.44%, recording a month-on-month growth of 300%.
