Canada packaging industry registered a 5.5% decline in IT hiring activity in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 6.94% in July 2021 compared with June 2021.

Out of the packaging industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.16% share in July 2021, recording decrease of 0.24% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada packaging industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 95.24% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada packaging industry in July 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 28.57% in July 2021, a 42.86% drop over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 23.81% share, an increase of 66.67% over the previous month.

3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 19.05%, registering a 300% rise from June 2021.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 11.9%, up 400% over the previous month.

Top five packaging companies in Canada IT recruitment activity in July 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 90% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada packaging industry during July 2021 over June 2021.

British American Tobacco posted 5 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a rise of 25% over the previous month, followed by Nestle with 4 jobs and a 300% growth. Weston Foods (Canada) with 4 IT jobs and Lien Hwa Industrial with 3 jobs, recorded a 300% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Carrier Global recorded a 200% increase with 3 job postings during July 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.05%, up by 61.11% from June 2021. Entry Level positions with a 21.43% share, a growth of 28.57% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 9.52% share, down 50% over June 2021.
