Europe witnessed a 3.4% drop in IT hiring activity in the packaging industry in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

August 2021 has seen a decrease of 3.04% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.8% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering an increase of 0.12% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 47.43% in August 2021, a 21.2% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 17.48% in August 2021, marking an 11.89% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 17.34% in August 2021, a 13.79% drop from July 2021.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 7.91% in August 2021, a 3.64% rise over the previous month.

Top five packaging companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 21.84% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s packaging industry during August 2021 over previous month.

British American Tobacco posted 65 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 91.18% over the previous month, followed by Fujitsu General with 59 jobs and a 22.37% drop. Panasonic with 32 IT jobs and Lotus Bakeries with 31 jobs, recorded a 166.67% rise and a 16.22% drop, respectively, while Grohe recorded a 66.67% increase with 25 job postings during August 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s packaging industry

The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s packaging industry IT hiring activity with a 19.69% share in August 2021, an 11.81% increase over July 2021. Germany featured next with a 15.67% share, up 6.6% over the previous month. Poland recorded a 9.85% share, a drop of 16.47% compared with July 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 73.09%, down by 11.28% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 15.53% share, registered a decline of 7.44% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.23% share, down 39.55% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.14%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
