The global packaging industry noticed a 2.8% rise in IT hiring activity in June 2021 over the previous month, led by Ball’s 9.42% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The packaging industry’s overall hiring activity declined 1.49% when compared with May 2021.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 3.01% share of the global packaging industry’s hiring activity in June 2021, up 0.21% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of June 2021 were 2.09% lower compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 3.53% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 48.12% emerged as the top IT occupation in the packaging hiring activity in June 2021, a 0.98% decline over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in second with a share of 14.74% in June 2021, down 27.06% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 14.31% share in June 2021, an increase of 6.74% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with a 10.13% share in June 2021 and rise of 3.9% over May 2021.
Top five packaging companies by recruitment activity in June 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 16.52% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global packaging industry during June 2021 over May 2021.
Ball posted 198 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a rise of 7.03% over the previous month, followed by Carlsberg with 84 jobs and a 22.22% decline. Signify with 65 IT jobs and Fujitsu General with 62 jobs, recorded a 9.72% decline and a 13.89% drop, respectively, while Carrier Global recorded a 51.59% drop with 61 job postings during June 2021.
Regional composition of IT hiring in packaging industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global packaging IT hiring activity in June 2021 with a 45.08% share, which marked a 2.07% drop over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 37.61%, registering a 5.16% month-on-month decline.Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 13.22% share and a 21.69% decline over May 2021.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 2.71% and a month-on-month growth of 16.33%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.38%, registering a 107.14% an increase over the previous month.
