The UK’s packaging industry registered a 5.2% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 13.8% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.

Out of the packaging industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.31% share in August 2021, recording a decrease of 0.21% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 54.23% in August 2021, registering a 16.67% flat growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 17.61% share, a decrease of 10.71% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 14.08%, registering an 11.11% rise from July 2021.

4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 7.04%, up 100% over the previous month.

Top five packaging companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 32.76% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s packaging industry during August 2021 over July 2021.

Fujitsu General posted 26 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a rise of 52.94% over the previous month, followed by British American Tobacco with 19 jobs and a 58.33% growth. Unternehmensgruppe Theo Muller S.e.c.s. with 16 IT jobs and Unilever with 12 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 100% flat growth, respectively, while Diageo recorded a decline of 42.86% with 4 job postings during August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.38%, up by 3.45% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 19.72% share, registered an increase of 64.71% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 16.2% share, up 4.55% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.7%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
