The UK packaging industry registered an 8.2% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 5.47% in July 2021 compared with June 2021.

Out of the packaging industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.41% share in July 2021, recording an increase of 0.18% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK packaging industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.52% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK packaging industry in July 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 50.43% in July 2021, a 7.41% growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 21.74% share, an increase of 13.64% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 14.78%, registering a 15% decline from June 2021.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 6.09%, up 133.33% over the previous month.

Top five packaging companies in the UK IT recruitment activity in July 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK packaging industry during July 2021 over June 2021.

Fujitsu General posted 17 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a rise of 21.43% over the previous month, followed by Unternehmensgruppe Theo Muller S.e.c.s. with 16 jobs and a 300% growth. British American Tobacco with 12 IT jobs and Lego with 8 jobs, recorded a 100% growth and a 300% increase, respectively, while Diageo recorded a 75% increase with 7 job postings during July 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 71.3%, up by 20.59% from June 2021. Entry Level positions with a 16.52% share, a decline of 9.52% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 11.3% share, down 40.91% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.87%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
