A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11971304B2) describes a system for logging temperatures of food products at a physical location. The system includes a temperature probe assembly with a housing that can be attached to an electronic device equipped with a camera and a mount for an elongate temperature probe. The mount can be moved from an inactive position to an active position, allowing the probe's tip to be within the camera's field of view when the housing is connected to the electronic device. Additionally, an infrared temperature assembly with a housing carrying an infrared sensor can be attached to the electronic device, enabling temperature readings to be acquired from either the temperature probe or the infrared sensor, depending on the mount's position.

Furthermore, the system includes a processor within the electronic device that can acquire temperature readings from the temperature probe or the infrared sensor, along with images from the camera. The electronic device has memory for storing these temperature readings and images. The system also features various connectors for removably coupling the different components, such as the temperature probe assembly, the infrared temperature assembly, and the electronic device. Additionally, the processor can present a menu on the device's display for selecting food products for temperature readings, store timestamps along with the acquired data, and even provide instructions for using either the temperature probe or the infrared sensor based on object recognition of the food products.
