A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11904511B2) discloses a mould designed for producing closures made of plastic material with a tear-off membrane in a compression moulding machine. The mould consists of a male die element and a female die element that can be positioned in a closed configuration where they are in contact or an open configuration where they are spaced apart. The female die element includes three blocks aligned along the moulding orientation, with springs interposed between them to apply opening and closing forces. Additionally, the mould features cooling circuits for both the male and female die elements, with a recirculation duct traversing the blocks of the female die element.

Furthermore, the patented mould includes a male die element with an annular body defining a slide cavity and a central block movable within the cavity for moulding and releasing positions. The male die element also incorporates a pressurizing duct to inject air into the slide cavity for facilitating closure extraction. The design of the male die element includes a toothed bush, a receiving bush, and communication passages for the passage of air and/or water. Additionally, an outer bush movable relative to the annular body along the moulding orientation is part of the male die element. Overall, the patented mould offers a comprehensive solution for efficiently producing closures with tear-off membranes in a compression moulding machine, incorporating innovative features for enhanced functionality and performance.
