The value marked a decrease of 56% over the previous month and a drop of 84.9% when compared with the last 12-month average of $3.88bn.
In terms of number of deals, the sector saw a drop of 24.1% over the last 12-month average with 22 deals against the average of 29 deals.
In value terms, Europe led the activity with deals worth $439.27m.
Packaging industry deals in June 2019: Top deals
The top five packaging deals accounted for 96.3% of the overall value during June 2019.
The combined value of the top five packaging deals stood at $565.47m, against the overall value of $587.2m recorded for the month. The top announced packaging deal tracked by GlobalData in June 2019 was Kohlberg & LLC’s $394m private equity deal with Amcor .
In second place was the $77m private equity deal with Duraco Specialty Tapes by OpenGate Capital and in third place was Hebei Baoding Dongfang Paper Milling Limited’s $46.49m acquisition of Hebei Tengsheng Paper .
