RPC Sæplast unveils new size PE container for food processing
Plastic packaging provider RPC Sæplast launched a new reusable polyethylene (PE) container for food processing.

Available with a 750l capacity, the new solution is offered in several colours, with or without a drain plug and lid.
The container was an addition to RPC’s existing 630l and 875l options, and will provide more variety and flexibility in food transportation and storage to the customers.
US’ Niagara Bottling to establish $95m bottling plant in Virginia
US-based bottled beverage supplier Niagara Bottling was planning to establish a manufacturing and bottling operation facility at Meadowville Technology Park in Chesterfield County, Virginia, with an investment of $95m.
The facility will use an advanced filtration process to produce its Niagara brand and private label bottled water.

Researchers at the US Department of Agriculture developed a new environmentally friendly film made of a milk protein, casein, in a bid to reduce food waste and replace plastic wraps.
Presented at a meeting of the American Chemical Society, the newly developed films can protect food from harmful elements nearly 500 times more effectively than other plastics.
The milk protein-based films are edible, and possess biodegradable and sustainable features.
Bosch to unveil integrated system solution for liquid, viscous and pumpable foods
Germany’s Bosch Packaging Technology was set to launch its integrated system solution for liquid, viscous and pumpable foods at Pack Expo International 2016, which will be held in November in Chicago, Illinois, US.
The wrap-around carton solution, known as Certiwrap Elite, was developed by Bosch in partnership with fill and seal machinery producer Osgood and packaging equipment provider Kliklok-Woodman.
Designed to meet the demand for containers in wrap-around cartons, the new fill and seal equipment can reduce downtime for pre-made containers.
US’ Berry Plastics to buy AEP Industries for $765m
US-based consumer packaging company Berry Plastics signed a definitive merger agreement to purchase AEP Industries for an aggregate consideration of $765m.
This cash and stock deal includes AEP’s net debt, and each AEP shareholder will receive either $110 in cash or 2.5011 shares of Berry common stock per AEP share in the transaction.
The deal was also subject to an overall 50 / 50 proration to ensure half of the total outstanding AEP shares are exchanged for cash consideration. Once completed, AEP shareholders will own nearly 5% of Berry Plastics on a complete diluted basis.
India’s IIP to develop new packaging specifications for pharma exports
The Indian Government reportedly directed the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), a national apex body, to develop new packaging specifications for pharmaceutical products being exported to African and Asian countries.
IIP functions under the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry and focuses on enhancing the country's packaging standards.
The decision followed the rejection of an Indian pharmaceutical order by Vietnam. India had recalled the products included in the order due to a packaging issue.
UK’s Domino Printing Sciences breaks ground on £19m factory in China
UK-based coding, marking and labelling equipment manufacturer Domino Printing Sciences started construction of a new factory in Changshu, China, with an investment of around £19m.
Located in the Changshu Economic & Technological Development, the new factory covers an area of 26,667m² and was designed to support the growth of the company across the Asia Pacific region.
The Domino Printing Technology (Changshu) facility will initially feature lines for ink production, ink jet printer assembly testing and thermal transfer overprinting (TTO) assembly testing.
US’ plastic containers maker Graham Packaging to close New Jersey facility
US-based plastic container producer Graham Packaging planned to close its New Jersey plant in September.
The closing will affect 63 hourly employees and eight salaried workers associated with the plant.
The company sent a letter to town officials regarding the shutdown, reported Lehighvalleylive.
Toray Plastics (America) selected to join HP Indigo Pack Ready programme
US-based polypropylene, polyester, metallised, and bio-based films manufacturer Toray Plastics (America) was selected to participate in the new HP Indigo Pack Ready community of film providers.
HP Indigo Pack Ready offers post-print solutions for HP Indigo digital presses that allow digital converters and printers to print, laminate, and pack on demand for immediate time-to-market.
As part of the deal, Toray Plastics will bring Lumirror PA66 PET film and Torayfan FMS and F62W OPP films to the HP Indigo Pack Ready digital ecosystem.
France’s Jus de Fruits d’Alsace buys AseptBloc Contiform moulder from Krones
Laiterie Saint-Denis-de-l'Hôtel (LSDH) subsidiary Jus de Fruits d’Alsace purchased a Contiform AseptBloc moulder from Krones.
Installed at Jus de Fruits d’Alsace facility in Sarre-Union, France, the new machine features an aseptic blow-moulder, which is part of a blow-moulder / filler block.
The block enables the production of containers in the aseptic blow-moulder and fills them in aseptic mode, following preform decontamination using gaseous hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).
