Canada’s packaging industry registered a 3.6% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 1.76% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.

Out of the packaging industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.09% share in October 2022, recording a decrease of 0.09% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s packaging industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.44% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s packaging industry in October 2022.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 51.56% in October 2022, registering a 35.29% decline over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 20.31% share, a decrease of 7.14% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 15.63%, registering a 9.09% decline from September 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 7.81%, up 150% over the previous month.

Top five packaging companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 17.02% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s packaging industry during October 2022 over September 2022.

LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton posted 18 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a drop of 25% over the previous month, followed by Body Shop International with 7 jobs and a 68.18% drop. Hasbro with 6 IT jobs and Maple Leaf Foods with 4 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 300% growth, respectively, while McCain Foods recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during October 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 54.69%, down by 23.91% from September 2022. Entry Level positions with a 37.5% share, registered a decline of 27.27% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 7.81% share, up 66.67% over September 2022.
