Canada’s packaging industry registered a 13.1% rise in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 0.58% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.

Out of the packaging industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.05% share in October 2021, recording an increase of 0.21% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s packaging industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 94.12% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s packaging industry in October 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 32.35% in October 2021, registering a 22.22% growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 29.41% share, an increase of 25% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 11.76%, registering a 300% rise from September 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 11.76%, down 20% over the previous month.

Top five packaging companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 433.33% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s packaging industry during October 2021 over September 2021.

Domtar posted 4 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a rise of 300% over the previous month, followed by Richardson International with 3 jobs and a flat growth. McCain Foods with 3 IT jobs and Domtar with 3 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 200% growth, respectively, while Lien Hwa Industrial recorded an increase of 200% with 3 job postings during October 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 73.53%, up by 8.7% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 20.59% share, registered an increase of 75% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Senior job ads with 2.94% share, flat growth over September 2021, while Entry Level postings accounted for 2.94%, recording a month-on-month decline of 66.67%.
