The global packaging industry noticed a flat growth in IT hiring activity in August 2022 over the previous month, led by Ball’s 4.59% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The packaging industry’s overall hiring activity increased 2.05% when compared with July 2022.

Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 3.45% share of the global packaging industry’s hiring activity in August 2022, down 0.06% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of August 2022 were 3.97% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 8.34% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 38.8% emerged as the top IT occupation in the packaging hiring activity in August 2022, a 10.04% growth over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 21.82% in August 2022, up 6.34% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Computer and Information Analysts with a 19.51% share in August 2022, a decline of 2.7% over the previous month, and Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 12.86% share in August 2022 and a drop of 3% over July 2022.
Top five packaging companies by recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 14.29% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global packaging industry during August 2022 over July 2022.
Ball posted 127 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a drop of 12.41% over the previous month, followed by Nestle with 95 jobs and a 33.1% decline. Petco Health and WellnessInc with 82 IT jobs and Haier Group with 80 jobs, recorded a 105% growth and a 1.27% rise, respectively, while Hisense Visual Technology recorded a flat growth with 80 job postings during August 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in packaging industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global packaging IT hiring activity in August 2022 with a 47.69% share, which marked a 6.02% rise over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 24.42%, registering a 9.02% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 23.88% share and a 28.1% rise over July 2022.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 3% and a month-on-month drop of 17%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.01%, registering a 6.67% decrease over the previous month.
