The global packaging industry noticed a 1.6% rise in IT hiring activity in November 2021 over the previous month, led by Ball’s 6.91% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.

The packaging industry’s overall hiring activity increased 1.57% when compared with October 2021.

Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 3.32% share of the global packaging industry’s hiring activity in November 2021, down 0.02% over the last three-month average share.

According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of November 2021 were 6.59% lower when compared with the previous month.

The decrease was a result of 12.28% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive packaging IT hiring activity

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 52.02% emerged as the top IT occupation in the packaging hiring activity in November 2021, a 1.08% growth over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 16.9% in November 2021, up 19.11% over the previous month.

The other prominent IT roles include Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 14% share in November 2021, a decline of 8.5% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with an 8.87% share in November 2021 and a drop of 11.48% over October 2021.

Top five packaging companies by recruitment activity in November 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 11.09% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global packaging industry during November 2021 over October 2021.

Ball posted 186 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a drop of 21.19% over the previous month, followed by Panasonic with 141 jobs and a 1.44% growth. Lotus Bakeries with 114 IT jobs and Unternehmensgruppe Theo Muller S.e.c.s. with 108 jobs, recorded a 200% growth and a 42.11% rise, respectively, while Haier Group recorded a 4.55% rise with 92 job postings during November 2021.

Regional composition of IT hiring in packaging industry

North America emerged as the leading region in the global packaging IT hiring activity in November 2021 with a 46.12% share, which marked a 7.17% drop over the previous month.

Europe stood next with 35.8%, registering a 22.65% month-on-month growth. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 14.59% share and a 1.75% drop over October 2021.

In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 2.45% and a month-on-month drop of 9.59%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.04%, registering a 3.45% decrease over the previous month.
